We were welcomed by the very kind, hospitable and with a lot of humor Ollie Horton, who would also be our guide for this particular beautiful day.
The purpose of this tour was to visit three wineries and to get to know both theoretically and practically through testing, the local varieties of wines in the area, how they are made and their differences with the other wines known to us.
Bodegas El Grifo
Our first stop was at the biggest winery of the island El Grifo. We visited his vineyards, where Ollie explained to us almost EVERYTHING about his history, his methods, etc. It should be noted that Ollie holds the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) so he can be considered an expert in his field. This black color of the soil with the vast expanses immersed in the vineyard land makes you feel something unprecedented.
Then we relaxed in the beautiful places of the winery in order to taste its varieties (which were excellent) but also to visit its special place that has been formed as a museum.
Bodeguita Vega Volcan
Next stop was a small winery Bodeguita Vega Volcan. What can we say for this place? Extremely picturesque facilities, delicious tapas, hospitable owners while their wines are literally unique. It was from the few moments that we felt all the stimuli we were receiving so harmoniously connected.
Vinos El Tablero
Our last visit was at the winery Vinos El Tablero, where after visiting the vineyard we returned to its beautiful stone-built spaces to drink our wines (the truth is that we drank a little more), to enjoy our tapas (unfortunately there are no photos because we could not hold back!) and all this accompaniment of Ollie who had set out to teach us as much as he could about wine and more.
Another day ended in Lanzarote, finding us quite dizzy from the wine but at the same time very "full" from our current experience. Absolutely trained and professionals, we recommend Wine Tours Lanzarote (as hundreds of tourists do in tripadvisor) for every visitor of the island!
You can contact with us or directly with Wine Tours Lanzarote for more information or for booking your own unique tour.
